Hello,
please excuse my bad englisch. I dont know if you are the right kontact person for my problem but i hope you could help me.
I had an PV 544 building date 1965. Now i wont to build disc-brakes on this car. I have the FIA-Homologation-Paper 1086 form the 544 sport. There is the extention "24/IX T" where the Disc-Brakes are describt.
For getting my Historic-Road-Papers from the german MOT (TÜV) i need an acknowledgment that the Disc-Brakes in the Homologation-Papers 1068 were in the year 1965 for everyone who buys an PV 544 avialabel. Not only for Racing-Cars but for every Normaly-Street-Car.
In the FIA-Homologation-Paper is written: "Brakesystem is standard equipment on Volvo 122 and an optional extra on Volvo 544". But the german MOT want a letter from the manufactor not only the FIA-Paper.
I hope you can help me.
When you can help me, please send me an Letter not an E-Mail because the Mister from the MOT dont accept an E-Mail.
Die Antwort:
Dear Mr Müller,
Thank you for your email.
These brake disc kits for the Volvo PV544 were sold via Volvos Racing department and were mainly made/sold for racing purposes.
You were not allowed to buy them without having a racing license.
For this reason we are not able to make a statement that these were sold by Volvo for “street use”, even if they could be purchased by anyone who wished
since they were standard parts for Volvo Amazon from 1963/64.
Yours sincerely,
